About Abhivyakti
Since 2016, Abhivyakti Cultural Festival stands as the largest and sole student-led event dedicated to the empowerment and skill enhancement of Udaipur's youth. It is the annual cultural festival hosted by Aishwarya College, Udaipur. This initiative seeks to foster arts and culture, cultivate talent, and assist young individuals in realizing their full potential through various creative avenues. The New Educational Policy underscores the importance of integrating creative performing and visual arts into the School Curriculum. Additionally, through Abhivyakti, we aspire to rejuvenate ‘Nritya Natika’ (Group Hindi Dance Ballet) for promoting Indian culture and values espoused in our sacred scriptures and mythological texts. Our goal is to fortify Udaipur's cultural landscape by engaging educational institutions (both govt. & private), thereby benefiting a significant number of students from schools and colleges.
Last iteration of Abhivyakti witnessed participation from over 42 schools (govt. and private) along with Udaipur-based colleges. There were more than 800+ entries in 25+ competitions.
Nritya Natika (Group Dance Ballet)
At Aishwarya College, performing arts is more than just an extracurricular activity - they’re a form of expression, identity, and impact. Under NatyAishwarya - Department of Performing Arts, students explore a wide range of creative disciplines. This includes Nritya Natika (Hindi Ballet) - the powerful art of dance-drama, where expressive movement and storytelling come together to create a compelling theatrical experience. Themes include mythology, history, folklore and social issues. Complex philosophical ideas and cultural values are communicated in a simple and engaging manner. This fusion has helped keep the art form relevant and appealing to newer generations.
Nritya Natika, or dance drama in Hindi, stands out as a powerful and visually engaging medium of art. Productions often include elaborate costumes, symbolic gestures (mudras), facial expressions (abhinaya), and traditional music that support the emotional and visual impact of the drama. It often includes blends of classical dance forms like Kathak, Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, and Odissi.
Students engage in vivid character portrayal often performed during our annual Abhivyakti Cultural Festival. Past performances included mesmerising acts from epics such as Ramayana, Mahabharata, Panchatantra, Durga Mahishasura Mardini Stotram, Bhagavatam, Bala Hanuman, Krishna Raas Leela, Akbar Birbal Stories, and Shiva Purana among others.
In essence, Nritya Natika is a beautiful amalgamation of art, culture, and spirituality. It continues to be a powerful storytelling medium that celebrates India’s rich heritage and artistic diversity. Whether rooted in tradition or exploring modern narratives, Nritya Natika remains a vibrant and cherished form of cultural expression.
Emphasis is placed on developing the ability to communicate stories, themes, and emotions purely through art, movement, and symbolic performance. From classical to contemporary, each performance is an opportunity to reflect ideas, values, and emotion - while building confidence, collaboration & cultural appreciation. It empowers students to become storytellers who use the body and soul as their medium- preserving the essence of Indian theatrical tradition while also encouraging innovation and personal artistic expression. This is where art becomes voice.
